I'd love to show you guys my bedroom, but I don't have any images (not to mention uploaded). I've got most of my stuff around my desk and PC. The fx rack and K2000R are on the desk. Nothing special really.

Hi!

Nice, but tek is right: it looks a little bit sterile.

What You need is a great picture or flag on the wall (like I have in my room) and let your synths stand diagonally across. So your room has less place, but it looks like if there was more, you know . Don't get me wrong, I don't want to say that your equipment is too little! If you don't know what I want to say, have a look here . Not much equipment, but that what I have is standing in the whole room .... .

By the way: is it a Korg Wavestation in your studio?

Ooh! You've got the JD-800 there, Stalker. Nice. If I ever get a keyboard again, The JD must be it.

BTW, when I was shopping for my first synth back in 91 and the JD-800 was all new, I could've sworn the LCD was red. Really cool red too, with orangish letters. Did they change it or what?

I also read that Roland cancelled it because it was too expensive to manufacture. It's right up there with the Waldorf Wave in sexyness.

Yes, with buying the JD a dream came true. Sounds great (if you want), is relatively easy to program and looks awesome (especially for a digital pcm-synth).

But it could have more voices. Roland says it would have 24 voices. But that only happend when You only use it with one tone. When You use four tones, the polyphony becames 24/4=6 voices.
The keyboard itself is not the best but also not the worst. This instrument seems to be one of the first, the later keyboard has a better qualtity I think. It's not bad, but a friend of mine owns a (I think) newer version where the keys have got a better feeling. And the internal reverb sounds a bit like a pepsi-can .

The displays are orange with (I think) black letters. The LEDs are orange, too. I don't know a JD-800 with other colours.
On the photo the LCDs look like if they were green, right? Must be an effect from the flashlight of my camera.

I don't know why it has been cancelled officially. But the XP-50, that came out when the production of the JD has stopped sounds a bit better, and with the XP-80 the effects and the display became perfect. But there are nearly no sliders, that's a pity.
The first price for the JD was at about 4800,-DM in Germany. That was too expensive and not many bought one. One year later it was decreased to about 3800,-DM.

Sorry that we've gone off topic, Leon!
