I heard there is a piece of software that can automate the process of sampling a synth's sounds and then converting them to patches for use with soft samplers.

I am unable to find out any more about this software. I think it is a German made app.

Does anyone have any idea what it is called/where I can purchase it from?

Open Labs, the company that makes the "Neko" and the "Miko" windows xp based keyboard workstation, has a software called Mimik http://openlabs.com/products/product_info-mimik.htm . This software is designed to clone other keyboards automatically but I'm not sure if it can work on other computers or if it is only for their products.
