Yo, from the Philly 'burbs,
Chas Giles, Benny is alive and well and can still hold four conversations at one time. That was always the scuttle - Benny being connected. He still does volumes of business out of that hole-the-wall. I can remember meeting people from up and down the east coast who came to 'do a deal with Benny'. I will call Ronny, the keyboard specialist, next week to see if he has the keyboards and pass the info on to AJ. You can rule out the Sam Ash store. I visited the store last week and the manager said that the high end arrangers are special order only.
I'm a midi accordion player and I use the Korg i40M on gigs - just to let you know how far behind I am. I've been scouring this forum daily. I've been inspired by the members of this forum to the point that on Wednesday, I ordered a PA1xPro – based on what I’ve read here. I'm still in the dark ages when it comes to these instruments and I hope to glean as much technical info as I have inspiration from this forum.
Ciao,
Jerry

Hi Jerry, your post really brought a smile to my face. Yeah, Benny could hold four conversations at once, the only problem was that you couldn't understand him in any of them .

Hi AJ,
my friends is the PA1Xpro the 76 note version (no speakers). The PA1x has speakers and 61 notes. Not much difference in recommended retail price between the 2 (between $8,000 & $9,000AUD). THe PA80 has a recommended retail of approx $5,000AUD. Makes me think that the pax's must really have something going for them to warrant the price difference. Unfortunately out of my price range unless my dealer made a mistake with the expected retail price over here of the pa1x.

I tend to think if you're a korg fan , it would be well worth your while to check out the PA1Xpro before deciding what to get.

I remember my old korg i2. It had a really good solid feel about it and the styles didn't seem to be as repetative as some of the other keyboards. Possibly because of the style structure.

Good luck with your search.

best wishes
Rikki

Rikki, I meant PA1x Pro I think. I almost forgot that Korg has ( or will have ) a version w/ speakers.

It should be in this week coming up. Call Chris in keyboards and see if he can arrange (sorry for the pun) to get a Pax1pro in for a demo. I'll join you and we can demo them together.

It's 3 hours from Middletown NY to Philadelphia, PA and I'm afraid I don't have 6 hours travel time and 2-3 hours evaluation time time on the weekends.

I'm all for it Al. I can surely ask, but I don't know that Chris would be willing to put a PA1xpro out on display. Back in the old store, he had a PA80 on display, before I bought mine, but I remember him baving an issue with it and saying something to the effect that he would no longer display Korg Arrangers.

Maybe I'm wrong or I misinterpreted. I hope so. Won't hurt to ask him anyway. Since he had a Tyros on display there during it's run, I would expect to see a T2 there as well. It would be great to be able to A/B the two.
