i'm interested in purchasing a vst instrument , preferably the model 'e' , but i've heard some good things about the pro 52 . if you could only buy one, which one & why ? i really need a multi-timbrel vst synth. also is latency a big factor with vst instruments? are there any other vst instruments worth looking into that i did not mention, other than the usual free ones, which i have most of those.

I preferred the Model E because it was more full sounding and had more body. But that's to my ears. I could get a lot more nice sounds in a shorter time than the Pro5.

The only issue you need to look at is latency. Latency reduces with a better sound card (Audiowerk8, Yamaha SW1000XG etc.) Also VST 5.0 now promises very low latency times with the new ASIO drivers. So check it out at Steinberg's website. So yes latency is big a factor in any soft synths.

thanks tails, for your comment. i did as you suggested , and determined that the waldorf wave ppg was the best choice for me at this time , however the model e & pro52 are excellent as well , so i will be adding the model e next time around . i don't think i'll have a problem with latency, i do have the lastest asio2 drivers & my audio system is already at a low astounding 7ms.btw have you checked out the waldorf ppg yet?

what soundcard are you using? is it compatible with steingberg ,check their website , if it's not an irq issue with windows, then it's probably some thing not set up in your audio system in cubase , or your software on your soundcard . did you check into the mme set -up in cubase?

creamware? uhm, sounds like that could be a pretty good soundcard. However , I think at this time i don't think anyone can beat the motu 2408 system , astounding low latency , excellent sound quality plenty of in"s and out's Sample accurate sync etc......... i'm extremely pleased.
