Hi,
What sound card do you suggest to buy to make a small home studio? ... at pro level quality. Something external, some stand alone system on which I wouldn't spend 2 or 3 days just to set my PC to work with it... and ofcourse, something not to expencive.

Hi, Slower!

Do the 'Wild Indians' live on?

What kind of recording system do you want to get?
Do you need HD recording plus midi controlling? You'll need a special audio card for it, not only a sound card. This audio card has to provide the ASIOdirect standard. The same with your recording software which should also provide this standard.

I don't know a special audio card that I could comment you but I've heard about a Roland audio card. Roland is a manufacturer for synths so I guess that their audio cards must be the best of all...

You can use Cubase SX/MX, Sonar4 or Cakewalk as the recording software. Maybe you'll find some other good products which could play in the same ligue.

My only suggestion is for you to seriesly consider a firewire interface. Not many companies making USB much anymore... Looks like firewire is the current/next generation. I hear there's new pipe coming soon. Don't know the name of it though. Supposed to be faster than firewire.

I thought about this whole SIAB vrs PC... I give up on the PC world... I went with a Yammy AW16G. There's been a 200 dollar price drop recently.

Peace

Why not using a submixer system for the drums? You can mix your drums with its own mixer and then send the signal to a stereo channel of the main mixer. This works good for many live acts. You're able to split your monitors...
