One of my keyboards PSR 630 has one or two really good sounds in it, but the rest arent useful to me. Can I get new sounds into this board? Possibly a new Rom chip. and here is a real longshot- Can I put a 740 chip in my 630. I know, I know, its just a stupid question........but maybe.

You sure can. Just buy a PSR 740, remove the rom chip, pop the rom chip from the 630 out & put in the 740's. Then take the 630's & put it in the 740 keyboard. Take the 740 back to the store & say in your dumbest form that you want to return the 740 because it doesn't work. BTW-The 630 won't work either.

I would never do that, but I would buy a 740 chip If I could . Do you work for Yamaha?

No But I recently started servicing equipment (Yamaha, Kurzweil, and Roland). By the way you should call yamaha to see if they can get you a part # for the rom chip and a schematic drawing of both the PSR630 and 740. That is where you will find your answer. The Phone # is 1-888-892-6242.
