Uncle Dave's own words:
"I've surprised myself a bit these last weeks, and I am starting to think that I can actually USE this kn7k till I decide not to.It has no serious drawbacks that hinder my performance, and in fact - the spund system greatly enhances it, so for now ....
I'm a techie ......."

So now we know why 'technics' is being shut down... In converting UD (even if only for a little while), they had met their ULTIMATE CHALLENGE !!! .... there was nothing left to prove or accomplish!!! ....

I agree with Rikki; but, on one point, I'd seriously like to go head-to-head with the man running Technics and get the real story, not the spin. Somebody, not the X-Files brigade, isn't telling the whole truth about this. What!, Mr Blair doesn't like us playing keyboards so he calls 'M' at Thames House. Wait a minute! I'm going to write a script for the next 007 movie...

Well, the story I got came from a Technics repair rep.....the head honcho from Mitsu-whatever died a year or so ago, and since he was a music lover, Technics was a pet project of his, though not especially a profitable venture. Since Technics, through Panasonic Music only brings in around $30 million a year compared to $200 million in vacuum cleaner sales, guess who got the boot?! But, there's more.....the company which was once called Technics, refused to relocate plants in China, (probably a matter of national pride), or anywhere in the far east that may have lowered productions costs considerably, but continued to manufacture the musical products in Japan, and now we are seeing the results of that mistake. Who knows, maybe the US government will bail out the factory! They love to give away the taxpayers money to foreign concerns. However, if the parent company won't sell the Technics name or license the rights, then we have seen the last of the Cadillac of the Keyboards. The truth behind the leak cannot be verified, so please don't throw anything at the messenger.

the problem with this "story" Bud, is that if you look at your Kn7000 box it says made in Malaysia and they have been for years, also Konosuke Matsushita died 15 years ago.

There is no mystery at all, all keyboards in total are a shrinking market year on year.

That's right. What kind of new boards came from Roland (va7?) the E series stopped.
From Casio, Gem etc.
Yamaha tries to do it with their new organ
just like Wersi does now. Modulair system. You buy what you need now (basic system) and upgrade it with what ever you want later on.
See the Synthasizer market and compair that with 15 years ago.

rgds.
Willem

It's some rumours that Roland are going to
present something new, not only the E100 and
E200 who it is posted about at GenArr Forum.
