Now, more than ever, everyone needs to VOTE!

Mine went in the mail a week ago. Hope it gets there.

Voted by mail yesterday. Will follow on line to see if it arrived at the registrar office and counted.

I don't think anyone on the forum is running for office so they aren't expecting any votes for or against themselves. Though I do think Captain Russ would be a great candidate. He actually cares about people.

Don't be so negative. You don't necessarily know who everyone will ultimately vote for.

This post just reminds everyone to VOTE for whoever your choice may be.

When I said "vote against you" I meant your position, not you in particular. I am reminded of Carlin's not voting monologue. Funny but a lot of personal truth there.

I have always said, if you don't vote then keep your quiet, as you you haven't got an opinion, and you don't want things to be better ( even if the same party stays in power); but if you vote you do have one and do want things to change or get better ( even if the same party stays in power); if you do nothing that what you want to happen.......... nothing different.

It's your country and family that gets affected in the long run, and those who choose not to vote seem not to care about those very important things. I believe in New Zealand it is the same as in the USA that you don't have to vote. We all look at voting differently, even if we are not politically motivated.

In fact, in many countries not voting does not contribute to maintaining the status quo, but contributes to strengthening extremist parties. The lower participation in the election, the higher chances for far right parties are, as their supporters will definitely vote. It may depend on the landscape of the political parties in various countries and also the electoral system, but in Germany with quite a number of different parties and proportional representation, it's certainly a bad idea not to vote if you want things to stay as they are.

Actually you don't have to vote in Australia either if you are not registered. And only home owners are required to register. So many people in Australia don't vote.
