Is this a good price for a KN-7000 at Guitar Center , classified as in "Good" condition (It does have a pretty good chunk near the floppy drive.

I'm sorta looking around, as I use to own one, and would now like to have one again. Kind of like getting my ol' car back smile

Just my thoughts around the topic.....

I've been lurking for a long time to add a Technics again.
Mainly because of nostalgia and that all the KN software that's now is stored 'useless' in the vault....
However, time has passed by, and lately and personally I've came to the conclution that I'll rather go for newer stuff, as an example, add a Korg PA4X.
Also thinking about the floppydrive technology that is quite obsolete (even if KN7K has SD card reader) and it may be hard to get things repaired and parts replaced because of age.

I think this item was pretty high priced, I've seen several items here at $700 or so. Also it has a damage (hit the floor?).

That said, still there is no brands that match the great Technics userfriendliness. Even a dumbass like me managed to master it fairly well. 😁

There having a laugh, $250 would be way over the top even in perfect condition, and with that damage I wouldn’t go over $100. (The KN7000 is coming up to 20yrs old now)

Yes, I thought it was over priced too, especially with the damage. Like Gunnar, I was feeling nostalgic, and wouldn't mind having one, as they were pretty awesome keyboards.

Still got my 2 KN7000s and wouldn't part with them for all the tea in China !! In my opinion, still the best sounding keyboard with a really user friendly operating system - especially when you want to create your own backing styles. The SD Card system and the USB computer interface make the Floppy disc mostly redundant.

KN7000s appear on eBay fairly regularly here in UK and are usually priced between £400 and £1000 ( US$524 and US$1310) depending on condition and accessories included in the sale.

Like other opinions in this thread, I think that the one you refer to is way overpriced in view of the damage... who knows what other internal damage it has sustained....

If you can find a decent KN7000 Larry, go for it - I'm sure you won't regret it.

Thanks Bill, I remember you and this forum from way back when. Maybe someday if I can find a decent KN7000, I'll be back smile

Having realised that the rhythms on my KN7000 are rather dated I have had great fun during the lockdown converting other manufacturers more recent song specific styles to Technics. The list is now over 200 long so I won't list it here but if anyone wants to know...just shout...Rog
p.s. I've attached just one - Beautiful by Christina Aguilera - which is zipped.

Peek-a-boo!!! It's been to the point of years since I brought up this forum. I remember the days when it was alive and well.

I have to wonder why any former owner of the KN7000 would want to part with it with all the beyond fantastic capabilities the keyboard has. I have decided that it is lack of talent and being able to COMPOSE. When I was on this forum years ago I tried to encourage members to LEARN how to use the COMPOSER and create their own styles and arrangements. NO, it was too difficult and they relied on the two boring measures of pre-styles in the keyboard. This clearly showed no talent and a situation of 'Hey, Ma, look one finger in the left and one in the right with making music.' I have no sympathy for those that foolishly sold their KN7 for something NEW. Gosh, if it is NEW it must be good!!! Well, you have found out differently so suffer!!!

Every time I sit down to my KN7 I am thankful that I decided at the time to upgrade to it. I first had a KN1000 many years ago and then much later, a KN6000. I wouldn't trade my KN7 for anything new on the market. It does everything I want and expect from it.

In closing, I have never understood anyone using OTHER PEOPLE'S IDEAS and this I mean using other people's styles and media files. It is totally dishonest and not anything I would be proud to fall back on. This is much like the old 'paint by numbers' when people could buy a blank canvas and follow carefully the instructions of this color here and that color there and come up with a painting. This is something anyone could do with following the instructions carefully.

I will end with that I think it sad that the forum is to the point of not being a knowledgeable site of learning or expressing ideas anymore.

Sincerely,

Scott Reed
