Sorry about that...
Because you are probably right..

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I was just questioning whether the act of purchasing new gear should be the main focus of the forum. What you DO with the new gear is far more interesting to me than just the fact that you were able to purchase it. I think the part that is annoying is the 'egging on' of others to get in on the buying frenzy, especially people who may not be able to afford it without negatively affecting family finances. Buying new gear is fine; making it seem like some major musical milestone is not. I'd prefer to see a brand new post stating "check out this tune I just did on my new ***fill-in-the-blanks***" rather than "Okay everybody, gather 'round. I'm buying a new Yamaha Penis...uh, I maean Genos". I mean "UNBOXING"!, come on, man, who really gives a damn? JMO.

I can see your point...

In general i buy used gear..
And sell it a few months or years later
Witouth loosing money..
And buy something else..

Discovering a new instruments is as much fun to me as making music and improving my skills... all instruments have their own character.. espescially when you don’t just stick to arrangers (but then there every brand has its own character too)

Discovering new instruments and ways to play also helps (a little) improving my musical skills.. its not as much about buying the gear... but much more about exploring new things.. and older high quallity things are often just as much fun to explore as newer things..

But then, i think i am the only one that asked 2 questions this week about actually making music..

Hi Chas:

You make a great point... but it seems a bit like the Automobile Industry year end... when all the new models come out. We have become an "I want it now" society... (McDonald's comes to mind) and I guess keyboard enthusiasts are no different.

Gotta admit, the SX-900 sounds exciting and a bit like a poor man's Genos... but this "poor man" will have to wait until the SX-900 becomes yesterday's news before I can justify a new acquisition. Old men and their toys are hard to explain.

Have a great day. ----Dave

From my cullinary point of view and taste for good food... you can not compare mc donnalds to anything in music land..

Even the sx600 is by yesterdays standard a luxury dinner..

I would not call the sx-600 a poor man Genos ... it deserves the title baby Genos.. as its still an incredible instrument if you are into the Yamaha sound

McDonald's lets me eat free anytime, as long as I'm in my Sheriff uniform!

Uh oh! Sounds like they're hiding something. In any case, that's a pretty cheap way of having extra police presence on the premises. Donut shops have been doing it for years smile smile.

We get free drinks at most places and free donuts at Brookshire's! Lots of places give discounts as well, if you show your badge.
And we are allowed to take bribes as long as it is kept a secret. smile
