Topic popped up on Korg Forums the other, using biab to create chord sequences for Pa4x. Hoping we could just save song as midifile and load it into korg to create the chord sequence, unfortunately korg couldn’t recognise some of the chords.
But did discover we could record them via midi through a function biab has that sends chord data via midi.

The chord sequence can be edited if required via step record function in korg sequencer.

Only takes a few minutes to type a song into biab, then a couple of minutes to play it across to korg.

Find it handy for learning melody for new song or trying different styles.

Basically end up with a backing track for biab and one for the Pa4x

Aside from the CS, how well do the midi play? Since Realtracks are audio anyway, I suppose it is the same process.

Hi Bernie, not quite sure I understand. A biab song that doesn’t have any audio tracks can be saved as a midifile in biab, and plays back quite well in Pa4x using the korg sounds.

What sound source are you actually using with biab? A lot of the styles are a mix of audio and midi tracks.

Hi Rikki
You answered my question. For all my good intentions, I haven't got to BIAB aside from auditioning. I had wondered if midi sequences from BIAB played alright in Korg, regardless of CS. As to your procedure of recording in audio, I just observed that Realtracks is already audio, so it would be the same. Sorry to have been vague. Thanks

Bernie

Hi Bernie,
There is a fair bit to learn.
For auditioning styles for songs, I basically do my chord progression first. Then I go to the style picker, type in The song or sometimes the artist, and it comes up with with a list of suggested styles. (Some are definitely weird suggestions, ) but I just go thru the list till one stands out as being suitable.
Then I do the fills.
I basically just audition with the coyote wt synth and pick better sounds later using one of the vst’s. I could use sounds from Pa4x. Just not quite sure which way I want to go.
