Where can you purchase or download good rock styles for Genos , the styles that come pre-loaded really stink. Not a whole lot of just good solid styles like on Audya. Right hand sounds are mostly all good but the styles not so much. I think my old PSR-9000 was a better performing keyboard and my original Tyros a step up from that. Can I download Tyros styles and put them in my Genos and if I can where can I find them? Any info will be greatly appreciated cause I'm not much of a computer whiz.
Thanks you all. Mr. G

Hi Mr. G:

Sometimes it pays dividends to take an existing style and tweak the instruments... or change them out completely. Don't forget to give them a spin in "minor key" just to see how differently they may sound that way. Sometimes, it can be like finding a diamond!

Happy New Year!

What is actually the problem with the rock styles?
And why not just edit the existing ones to suit ?

Many seem to be programed for a certain song title and are hard to use , and the guitar patterns are somewhat overwhelming , but I am getting more into tweaking them and muting some of the tracks and they are becoming much more useable. I guess I was just used to the rock styles on my Audya that fit the Christian contemporary music I play. I do love the Pop, R&B, and country styles. I just really can't tell much difference in sound quality between Genos and Tyros but mabee it's just my old ears. Loved my Audya and will probably get another one.

This video shows a comparrison of a tyros4 style
And the same style editted with the new voices of the Genos..

As the demonstrator says..
If the style is played on default..
It uses the legacy voices of the t4 inside the genos
And so it sounds pretty much the same as in the t4.

So edditing is the way to go ..

I agree with you that many yamaha styles are typically arranged for certain songs..
But there is a huge collection user styles, search and you will find many more generic styles..
Also here, edditing is the way to go..

I don't have the Audya any more, I sold it but I wish I had kept it. I am getting around on the Genos much better than a week or so ago and have a better grasp on the styles and how to make them fit much better with my style . Looks and sound very nice but the registration and playlist storage function hard to understand. Save . save here , OK , delete, rename,. registration has been changed, do you want to save it? way too much confusion, careful or you'll delete an hours worth of work. Thanks for all the tips and replies, have helped greatly. I appreciate you all. Thanks again, I'll be calling for answers for many more how to's , I'm sure. Mr. G

Yes it does , I have done so and I'm a much happier Genos oner now. I am totally new to so many new features and I was just overwhelmed. Tweaking was the key, Thanks

Glad you are getting more comfortable with the Genos, Mr. G. I only wish I could afford one... but the 970 does a great job for songwriting. (I never perform.)

When it is convenient, keep us posted about your progress.

All the best, ----Dave
