It was a bit of a process downloading from the net then installing on my 4X. I actually thought I had done it wrong...but it worked! 😊

Gotta say...I'm impressed. What a great sound..love the new features.

It's great to get a new keyboard and not spend a dime. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Gotta say, every time I play my 4X, I'm a bit blown away by its wonderful sound quality.

The one thing that my 4X doesn't have, that I greatly miss, is the lush pedal steel guitar(Hawaiian sp? guitar on my s970)

https://youtu.be/22HMhgNi2Uk

I've found nothing on my 4X that comes close. There is a pedal steel in the guitar section of my 4X but it's pretty lame. And I haven't found a guitar in the 4X that I can simulate this sound..using joystick or whatever.

I'm guessing if I knew more about voice editing on my 4X, I could come close to the sound you hear on this video.

I like that sound too. I have one on the PA4X that I use that is pretty good, but different. Not in front of the kb right now, but I'll let you know tonight what it is.
You're right though, we should work on editing one.

Be sure and go ahead and load 2.0.1 after you do 2.0. It fixes a couple of small bugs that 2.0 introduced.

Tx all. Maybe this can be a group learning experience? I could use the help as I have never edited sounds...like, what is an oscillator? A sound generator?

You're right Don.

The alligators tail oscillates when it moves.

In any case, my 4X has a bunch of those oscillators. Not sure if that's where a person starts to generate or modify a sound?

πŸ˜‚ . Nice

An oscillator is the basic component of a sound or tone . Just substitute the word β€œtone β€œ instead of oscillator. You an select a guitar like an acoustic steel guitar as one tone . Then add an electric guitar as a second tone . Then you will need to play with the attack and amplitude to get closer to the pedal guitar sound .

Don't forget - many complex sounds are mixtures of more than one oscillator. I'd call a "tone" the sum of all parts.

Technically an oscilator is a sound creator...
It creates the base sound, like a saw or a sine tone
In yhe pa4x its the part that actually plays the sample..

You can have up to 18 of. These oscialtors in a sound..
A simple stereo sound requires 2 oscilators, one for left and one for right.
Most sounds however are mono..

Now what we do in the synthesis part is actually change the sound of these samples
A filter removes basically the high end or based on type the low end of your sound.
An lfo can be used to add vibration to your sound
Then there is the envelope generator, most important are the attack and the release
Attack is like the fade in of the sound, will it come in fast, or slowly after playing a note
Release iis the sustain after you release the key, will it disapear immediately or very slow..

These are some of the very basics of sound edditing..
All these parameters are on the pa4x basic edditing page

If you want to know more about soundcreation visit keyszone.board.net inhave gathered some articles there about sound creation, they are a good read..

http://keyszone.boards.net/thread/413/subtractive-synthesis-work-beginner

This is a nice one to start with, there are some more articles in that part of the forum.
