Excellent sounds, yes. The orchestral demo after 1:40 is very short, but the woodwinds sound very real, even if the player is outstanding and contributes his part to make it sound so orchestral. Listening more closely to the vibrato of the oboe however, I have the impression again that it could be the same oboe as in my MoXF - not to be meant as a criticism, it does sound very realistic.

Thanks for your input, Rosetree.

I've listened to the demo very carefully a few times, and I can't help feel that even though the Montage sounds nice, there's a certain "sheen" to the sounds that make them sound a tad "synthy".

Maybe it's the effects, or maybe they add some FM synthesis mixed with the AWM2. A Kurzweil, for example, sounds less processed, and therefore, perhaps more realistic. Same thing applies to the SRX-06/07 boards. With the Montage, however, the sounds are very pleasing to the ear, but they may not be as realistic-sounding as the two products mentioned above.

This is my opinion from what I've heard. Maybe, I'm just imagining things!

I know what you mean, I've always had the feeling Yamaha uses some kind of "fabric softener" for their sounds wink

I like your term, "fabric softener". It describes it perfectly!
