I am trying to start recording with my MAC. I have a PowerPC 6100 with 40MB of RAM and the program Deck II. I'm all psyched to get started but I don't know how to record vocals using a microphone because I can't figure out how to get one connected to my computer. Do I need a special box or device or a cassette deck or amplifier with a mic input to hook up to the back of my machine?
How does this all work? Do you know anywhere I can find a simple diagram that explains this or can you offer a recommendation as to how to get started with home recording for my macintosh? Also, I am sort of on a budget and I would appreciate the least expensive way to approach this. Thanks.

Most of the older macs equipped with a soundcard had a 1/8"plug at the rear or the computer labled audio in. If you havent seen this female plug on the back of your computer, you need a sound card to record.
