I'm updating some gear. Will sell one or two Bose L1 Compacts, complete with cases. Perfect working condition. Slight signs of use, but not much.
$700 each.

Now you tell me! Just sold the BK-9 today - would have made a good trade. What are you going to go to?

Sold. Hope it's not a mistake. If it is I'll just buy some more.
HK Nano 300s are in the starting lineup now. If something comes up they won't handle I'll borrow back my BIG L1.

Donny didn't act quickly enough. Janet from Dallas bought them. Those who came to Shreveport Jam may remember her. She had a Tyros with 88 note controller. Has T5 now.

Donny, Didn't you have 2 Nano's at one time ??

BTW $699 at GC. Looked thru the online manuel and they seem to cover all the bases for different applications. Very good manuel for a sound system, they thought of every application on pg. 38

I'm getting a second Nano from Frank.
I was very pleased with the way one did the room I generally play, in stereo, that I believe two will be fantastic when needed.
Setup will actually be a little quicker and easier with two--only one cable to run.

Don,
Do you know how the sound dispersion of the Nano compares to the Bose Compact? I like the weight comparison but what my audiences have said is they
really like the Bose because of the dispersion characteristics - they don't put it that way.

Don good move ....
I think the Nano will be better then the compacts all around in the rooms you play and so much more versatile hook up wise as the satellites can be turned all different ways also....

I think they disperse a little quicker than the Bose system. They still cover the room nicely though. It is nice to be able to "micro-position" the satellites. I'm sure the new will wear off and I'll want the Compacts back at some point, but who knows.

"Disperse" is not the right word ... you're thinking of dropoff. Wide dispersion is the #1 selling point of the Bose. The Nano definitely drops off quicker than the Bose. It also does not have the width of coverage. They sound very good if you are in the line of sight area, but the Bose is still the better performer to get the sound into the nooks and crannies. There'll be a few Nanos for sale after a while ... Done will think he's going deaf!

But I think it's great that the Nano provide a STEREO alternative for the Bose Compact with even less weight. I just don't like the idea of having mono, and 2 Compacts would be too much for my purposes. (And BTW, I will support a German manufacturer by purchasing one ;-))

I got to keep asking... if someone chooses to sit in a nook and cranny, doesn't that mean they are TRYING to get away from the music, to a certain extent? LOL

I guess I'm still doing forefront music most of the time, I don't really do background for an entire venue, so my needs in a PA is something that DOES drop off fairly quickly, and puts a nice danceable volume in front of me, but it drops off to background level as it gets out to the tables.

Looks like the Nano's would be my #1 choice, although I'd prefer just a BIT more volume from them (most say that the Compact will get a bit louder). But I'm willing to try a powered sub and see if the SRM's will do decent double duty as long as their lack of bottom can be fixed.

Got to admit, I like the form factor of the Nano's, with everything in one carryable package, and you can't beat the price... $2000 for a stereo Compact system compared to $700 for a stereo Nano.

For restaurant work, my Yamaha MS-60S were perfect....being monitors, they didn't throw the sound too far, and those not wanting to sit in the music area could find a spot where the music was low. They are relatively light at about 20 lbs each.

For doing a concert setting in a theater, I rented two Bose Standard L1's with subs and they worked perfectly, the people seated in back getting almost the same volume and quality as those in front. And, no need for monitors. Set up time was longer, but I allowed for it.

I must say, the Nano 300 looks very interesting, and would make a nice stereo system for restaurant work, but maybe not enough spread and distance for a theater setting.

Certainly a very clever design, and a great price too.
