The only video connections I have seen for the iPad and other tablets are HDMI connectors. I assume the 950 only has the standard PSR RCA video connector, so you would need to come up with an RCA to HDMI adapter, if such a thing exists, but that would be just another piece of hardware in the connection string. Kind of inconvenient, I would think.
While most computers, tablets, all kinds of things tend to have an HDMI out... I have yet to see one with an HDMI in... Which, if your keyboard is the sending end and the pad is supposed to be the receiving end, you would need, right? LOL
For well under $100 you can get LCD TV's that will hook up to the component output on your arranger (it's an RCA, right?). Google them.

Or for about $49 you can pick up a portable DVD player that has the same input. When the LCD display died on one particular model of the PSR series, lots of guys did this and kept on working until Yamaha came up with a free fix.

heres the thing....the S-950 has a display that doesn't tilt up like Tyros.....I like to sit very low when I play which reduces the viewing angle when your singing at Mic level...sure I can use my laptop if I needed for lyrics but that means using my bigger 2 tier stand and more hookups etc ....thats fine for all my 4 hr gigs but for short 1 hr NH / cocktail hrs etc, it aint worth it, ...but I was thinking that just a tablet, ....on battery power, easy to carry hook up would be an easy alternative for 1hr jobs...

I hardly ever read lyrics or music on jobs,........... except for off the wall songs I haven't done in years etc,... just thought an iPad would be a neat little toy to try out. Just show it to me in action Monday after lunch.

I've newer seen a tablet or non-specialist laptop PC with a video in.
I have used my netbook to show the video from my PSR3000 using a cheap USB video capture device (UK £25) and the free VirtualDub software to show a video preview. Works Ok but there's a lot of bits to cart around and connect up.
The "EasyCAP" brand appears quite often at the budget end http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Easycap, and my thing uses the "empia" chipset mentioned as one of the versions of the easycap device.
I have no idea whether such a device would work with an iPad or android tablet. The page I've linked to discusses use with Linux so there might be some Android support out there although android support for anything other than storage devices is pretty terrible so I souldn't be optimistic. I did a quick google for "easycap ipad" with no obvious success either.
I now use a cheap 10" digital TV with AV input. UK £90. I'd recommend this approach as the simplest answer although as mentioned above posrtable DVD players usually have AV in and so would also work fine.
