Something to work on for the new year... wink

"String Quartet No. 556(b)
for Strings In A Minor (Motoring Accident)"

It comes with helpful advice: "if arm falls off, re-attach and play much slower",
"shock therapy may be necessary to finish"...

Don't forget to "leap over cellist", and make "glissando using tip of nose".

Also, notice the fine print: "Really big notes do not exist", and the 23/4 measure (officially unplayable)

No, I really don't. I just heard a dixie version of Midnight in Moscow several times as a child, my father had it in some collection LP, so maybe it was the same version. But I didn't listen to any version when I played this, it was by 'dixie feeling'. So I'm quite sure the improvisations of clarinet and trombone cannot be identical to any original. But certainly I had the idea of this song as a dixie in mind from havinv heard it as a child ;-)

I play the church organ. Bach fugues including foot pedal are really a hard coordination training... It took me about a year to get the left hand independently move from the feet when I took the first lessons in 1985... But still, dixie with three improvising parts - no way.

OK; have a listen to this song and then tell me if it's the same LP your father had (...I am kind of embarassed now, because I still have this LP... blush )

Actually, now that I have heard the song again I am kind of nostalgia-struck, and think that it would be a lot of fun to record this song, doing all the improvisations, countermelodies, etc, in sync... You learn a lot of things in the process.

Why embarrassed? I'm almost sure that it is the same version I heard as a child, especially the ending phrase sounds very familiar. Maybe I can check my father's collections in a few days, I guess it was an LP of various artists from the 1960s or 70s.

I think Kenny Ball scored a No. 1 hit with that. About 1962?

Those of us in areas that aren't normally this cold should be aware that our pets and wives left out in the cold may be in real danger.
