With the way things are going in the music industry what will become of arranger style music in 30 years when most of us are gone & baby boomers are no longer around to enjoy many of the styles of music most styles will produce versus what is out today and how its changing technology wise and electronically....
Will we be gone and arrangers be in the closets of our kid gathering dust? frown

Think of what was around 30 years ago. The very early versions of arrangers were here. But, we all played some form of keyboard...B-3, Rhodes Wurlitzer and other classics.

Whatever people use will be keyboard based. Some of us (read ME, if I'm around...forget that; I'd be 98)will STILL be playing B-3's and Rhodes, but all musicians will be playing whatever the latest improvement is.

That's the neat thing about being a musician.

Organ Societies in the uk seem to be folding. I think the Arranger needs to have that wow factor not some cheesy song being played by a demonstrator if its to appeal to younger generation.

I won't care because I won't be here. Like most of you, I've never been a trend setter, just a follower. In 30 years I'll be 93. I'll be happy just to find my way to the buffet.

No, but they will turn into a computerized something...
smile To be honest, I would've thought the software arranger were already more present even now. Surely they will be in the future.
So, I don't think will be obsolete except for the form we know it today.
