Don,

Can't you post "If Tomorrow Never Comes" using your arranger keyboard? If you can't do it, nobody can. I don't want to hear a midi file backing.

If someone else does do this tune with an arranger, I'd really really like to give a listen. I love this tune. I try to do it and I murder it. However, it's such a pretty tune, it still sounds good. To me it's a tune that sounds good even if you sing it out of tune. Ha ha!

Come on Russ, Chas give it a try eh?

I don't do a great job on it either, but I'll look for a recording, or make another when I get a chance, especially if it will get you to stop posting.
I'M JOKING. We all enjoy your posts.

Saswich,
You have a nice voice, and I like the change of pace with the rhythm(style) you use. I do tunes like "I've Got You Under My Skin" with a Bossa Nova Style. Makes it kicks butt.

I appreciate you posting this for me. You're like me, I do all of the good pop tunes too. I don't care what genre' it is. If it's good, it's good.

Old DNJ makes all that money because he does all the good tunes too. So does Gary.

DonM makes a lot of money too but he cheats. He does all that guitar pickin along with the CW. He can't miss. I keep considering selling out to the CW scene myself, but every time I try this, my hands move too much on the chord changes and even my CW sounds like "I Left My Heart In Fran Sancisco."

Hi Tony

Thanks for the comments,

I played bass in a jazz quartet for many years so my heart is in swing as well as Pop and CW.

My voice isn't quite up to swing but one of these day's I'll give it a go.

Boo,

I just started performing this song about three weeks ago, I'll try to record it during tomorrow's performance and send it to you.

Gary, Are you sure you can't sail over the Rocky Mountains to take me sailing?
Send the tune to me. I work on it some more.

Just got home from sailing today, the temperature was 86 degrees and the humidity was about 80 percent. Not much wind, only covered about 15 miles and motored home when the wind died. Come on down to the Florida Keys in November, get warm we'll go sailing and play some music together. Sailing to the Rocky Mountains just ain't gonna' happen! wink

Boo,

Here's a link to If Tomorrow Never Comes that I performed today and recorded using the Zoom H2. No editing other than trimming the ends- just a one shot deal - live performance.

Nice one, Gary...simple but very effective.

It appears you are using a style, which makes the arrangement more your own.

It's a style that I got from my old friend Charlie Ohram many years ago. Seemed to me like it fit the bill for this song. Keep in mind I heard the song for the first time a month ago, and only began performing it three weeks ago on a limited basis.

Thanks for the kudos,

Gary cool

Well, if you had limited experience with the tune, you sure fooled me.

The style works great, and it adds a different flavor, without taking away anything from the gist of the tune.

We both know that presentation is everything, Gary, and this was well presented...don't be so modest.

I recorded this on the BK5...if anyone wants to put their voice to it....you can download it from my site...

I think Garth ripped off Willie and Julio..."All the girls I loved before"...I can't get that song out of my head to sing If tomorrow never comes...

Nice job Gary.

Thanks for sharing. I am looking at the zoom products. How do you record your live performance with this product?

Thanks,

Thanks for the complements everyone.

Brian, using a cable with a 1/8-inch stereo plug at one end, and a 1/4-inch stereo plug at the other end, I plug the 1/4-inch stereo plug into the keyboard's headphone out jack and the other end goes into the Zoom H2 Line-In. I set the recording input level of the Zoom to about 60 and just press the record button. It's a one-shot deal, no effects editing at all, and the Zoom saves the recording as an MP3. I then put the song into Audacity and trim the ends before uploading it to Box Net.

The Style is one that Charlie Ohram (Rattley) sent me many years ago. It was originally created for Sounds Of Silence. Here's a link to the style for anyone that wishes to use it: Sounds of Silence style

Cheers,

Gary cool

Thanks Gary. I never thought of going through the headphone out. Very simple. Of course, since I believe you are using the Yammie built in mic and harmonizer it picks up both the vocal and keys. My E60 doesn't have built in mic or harmonizer so or have I missed something? Or do you have your vocal mic plugged into one of the zooms xlr outs?

Cheers,

Brian(non techie) but getting' there.

I'm using the TC Helicon Harmony-M Vocal Harmonizer and sending the output of the TC into the keyboard's Mic/Line-In and a Crown CM-311A headset mic. The keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-3000, which is an antique by today's standards, but it still sounds pretty good to me.

Essentially, everything is going through the keyboard, which for me, really makes life easier. No mixers, fewer cables to contend with, and when I need MP3s, which is only for breaks, they're fired from my netbook PC directly to the Bose 1/8-inch input, thereby bypassing the keyboard entirely.

Cheers,

Gary cool

Hi Brian

I'm using a Korg Micro Arranger a Korg iH harmoniser into a Zoom R16 recorder.

Reverb and Chorus are from the R16, the lead vocal into a mono input, the harmony into a stereo input and the keyboard into another stereo input making 5 tracks in all.

To do any editing you can import the 5 wav files into Audacity carry out any tweaking then export into a MP3 file.

Kind Regards

Col

You've got it down Gary! My E60 doesn't have a mic line in. mad
I use an Audio Technica headset mic, a TC Helicon Harmony G XT for my guitar. I use a BOSE Compact without the T1 mixer for smaller venues or solo. For larger I use the BOSE L1 Model 2 and the T1. Oh yeah I forgot that I am wireless on mic and guitar just to add some more complication!
I figure trying to remember how to hook up all the moving parts will stave off Alzheimer's! laugh
I have lots of complicated ways to record but nothing as simple as you!
Thanks!

Brian
