Have these now as my mains. Unbelievable quality and power for powered 8s. I have them in the studio and the sound is so defined, it's scary.

Congrats on your new speakers !
but for me no way could I use any 8" speakers alone no matter the quality, lord knows Ive tried......
to make Bass you have to push air simple as that....
what happened to your QSC's 8" ?....

Our jobs are different, as with our bass tastes! I like a simple balance and lower volumes. Don't rule them out until you try - awesome speakers. These are more defined than the QSC (imo) - I sold them on eBay.

I have been using these at my home studio for over a year now... And they just sound great .... No need for a sepperate bass speaker (atleast not for me) but you can allways add a woofer....

In your bedroom is much different then performing nightly for 200-400+ people in a large dance venue....those might work as Tops but you better have a couple of serious Subs underneath them to pump the dance floor...

Wow! That's literally a "revealing" video, Scott...and the speaker weighs only 19 lbs.

Donny,
Nightly!? rotfl
Who on this forum 'actually' does that?! eek2

The EV ZxA1 sounds idea for both small-medium & possibly larger rooms where the audience specifically comes to specifically listen to & 'appreciate' a live keyboard/vocal concert performance, and not specifically to dance (thump! thump!). LOL

As I mentioned eariler with the micro-Arranger, it's all about: 'horses for courses'. smile

I look forward to checking the EV ZxA1's out.

Scott

I'm using the EV ZxA1 speakers with arranger keyboard and guitar. I got them as soon as they came out. Love them. Got rid of the Peavey stuff, Roland amps, and all that. Didn't sell my Bose Model II (as yet). I work 5 nights a week, mainly dinner/cocktail music with some dancing. Not the thump thump variety. These speakers are great for my purposes. My largest groups would number about 150. Don't have a sub and don't feel I need one. For small dinner parties, I'm using two of the new, very small, Behringer powered monitor speakers with the arranger. Works great and very light-weight.

I work just about every night. May be 25 people, may be 250. Two Bose Compacts work great in both cases. The EVs look interesting though, if I were in the market.
It's great to have so many good choice in gear these days.

When playing for very large crowds, you can allways use them as monitors... These things have so many uses..

Hi Guys.....

I have been working with this EVs (the Passive version) for almost 4 years...First I purchased One pair, I really like them so much that I got another pair....and for low end, No problems...
Let me tell you, I play some shows with other 2 Keyboardist(3 Amigos), Mike got a pair of the EVs like mine plus he got a pair of the EVs passive Subwoofers, driven by a 500 Watt EMX512Sc, Bob has 4 Massive Evs 18 inch 3 way (older model but sounds great) also driven by a 500 watt EMX.....then I put my 4 EVs with also a 500 Watt EMX, BUT,to get low end, I put one pair on the floor(separated of course), the other in opposite sides on speaker stands...I have NO problem playing for over 500 people along side with this other guys with this setup, and mine is easier to handle than my colleagues without sacrificing power or LOW end. rocker
I like them so much, that I am tempted to get a pair of the powered version. Very Reliable. cool2
