Hi George, (or anyone who has answers) Did you update your E60 w/1.08 yet and if so, what has it done to improve functions? also, did you investigate how midi pedals could be set up and if so, your thoughts on ease and feasibility of that would be appreciated. btw, anything w/3-6 foot functions is fine with me, don't need a ton of foot control

YO MO,
I installed v 1.06 in my new E 80 and this is what they said.
I now have a Kick and Bass Booster in/under Arranger settings.
Selectively loading user program settings with User Program hold. A new button icon has been added to the list of settings that need not change when you select different user programs
Ignoring certain One touch Settings (Hold)
A new button icon has been added to the one touch settings that can be filtered.
Three new Drum sets. The new software version provides three additional Drum sets for a total of 57. These are called IndoMix1, IndoMix 2 and IndoMix 3
So there you have it.
I am guessing the same changes on the # 60

thanks Bebop, I'm wondering how the 1.08 for the E60 differs from the 1.06 for your E80. one thing i know of is they said there were 2 bugs that were corrected, plus the v-link button could be used as a control button like the 4th d-beam button. I also remember being told something about bass boost, hope it has all the other hold options you mentioned. if so, then i have to seriously reconsider replacing the defective E60 i gave back to geo K, with a new E60, especially if midi pedal controls can be added without a lot of rigamarole. right now i'm waiting to demo the s900, should be coming in to local store in a few days..

I'm curious - what were the two bugs corrected with the update? I haven't updated my E80 yet. I'm always afraid to mess with stuff.

the 2 bugs? i don't know the details of the update, only a couple of generalities, that's why i'm asking to be filled in.

Mo,
Yes, I updated my E50 and my E60 at my store.
The V link button can now be changed to be an assignable button. I have several options of what it can be programmed to do.
As to the midi pedal issue, I spoke with Jan vogul at Roland. He explained to me that it's not that easy to do. Because there is no documentation from roland telling you if the variations, intro's and endings, etc. have been assigned a midi protocal enabling the user to program these functions on a midi controller, he doesn't know if it will work. He explained to me that sometime ago, with the JV80 or some keyboard like this, a midi chain of events were established by Roland Italy or USA to do certain functions, and then sometime later, Roland Japan used the same set of midi protocol to do some other things. You can see there was a problem.....
So Jan said he will contact Roland Italy and find out if a midi setup (protocol) has been established and if not if they could do one for the E series keyboards. I don't know how long it will take to find out, but he's working on it.

thanks George. aside from the v-link, what else is in that update? is it similar to what Bebop describes above in his 1.06 E80 update?

bebop, the 1.08 for e60 differs from the 1.06 for e80..e60 update makes a control button out of the v-link, and improves the unstable tap tempo, and adds 3 indo drum kits, and creates a fill going from var 4 to var 3...Mo
