Is it possible to use bellow sensitivity with my midi accordion and the XD3 sounds? I realize that my accordion is capable of it and if I use the accordion sounds that come with my accordion and port these to the XD3 that I will have bellow sensitivity, but can I achieve this with the actual Ketron sounds?

The velocity curves (soft1, soft2, etc.) don't seem to achieve what I want.

Thank you.

The bellow control is well recognized from XD3 not as Key Velocity but as Expression control. Try this and let me know.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ -

First off, thank you for your responses. I appreciate the time you have taken to help me better enjoy my Ketron XD3.

With respect to bellow control, the only expression parameter I could find was in Program mode. If I edit, for instance, the Musette accordion via Program Mode, there are three parameters - sustain, portamento, and expression. I have tried enabling and disabling all of them and I cannot get any change in expression via bellows.

Is there another place where I can alter expression? I can't find one and I've been through all of the menus.

This is a very important parameter for an accordionist.

Thanks again for the help.

AJ - I'm editing this post now since I went online and looked up Ketron and Bellows and discovered that in Ketron's literature they definitely mention that accordions equipped with bellows sensitivity can be fully utilized with the X4 (don't know about the XD3 but assume so). The literature mentions using MIDI. I'll think about it tonight and see what I come up with.

The Accordionist,

You are on the right path. Below are the steps:

Press ....

* MIDI (F6)
* Filter Reception (F6)
* Expression should have an asterix to set enabled (*).

Thanks,

AJ

I just tried it out AJ. It didn't make a difference, unfortunately. I was reading about the MIDI filters and it appears that if the parameter has an asterisk (*) by it then the filter is enabled, meaning that the parameter will be disabled.

I started thinking about it because when I go into the MIDI Filter Rx menu nothing has an asterisk, meaning that nothing is filtered and everything is enabled. This would make sense.

We're on the right track as my Millenium manual mentions that Expression (bellow sensitivity) is transmitted on Midi channel 11, same as the Ketron. Now I just have to figure out how to get the XD3 to recognize it!

I'll continue working on it. If you come up with anything please let me know.

I really appreciate all the help.
