Too much medication or too little?

The quality of this forum has seriously degraded since this whole "I want/wish brand X to build a keyboard that will suit my needs" vs "I am here to tell you that's not happening"

Let me give you a small theatrical script of last month's majority of threads:

[Diki, TTG and Ian, enter stage left, talking in raised voices]

Diki: We want this and this and this.
Ian: No
TTG: Why not?
Ian: Because
Diki: Because what?
Ian: Because I was told they won't.
TTG: Why wouldn't they?
[Fran enters stage right]
Fran: Roland
Ian: Because
Diki: But we would like it.
Ian: Errm, yes, I wouldn't say no myself, depending on the circumstances.
Diki: Why not then?
Ian: I told you, I can't
Fran: Roland
TTG: Why can't you? Others do it.
Ian: I am not at liberty to say
TTG: Just try at least
Ian: I can't
Fran: Roland
[Donny enters stage right, walking in a playful gait]
Donny:1,2, cha cha cha
[Donny exits stage right, while Diki and TTG wave their fists at him]
Fran: Roland
Ian: It won't happen
Diki & TTG [together] : I don't believe you/We don't believe you.
[Both turn to the audience]
Both: DO YOU BELIEVE HIM
[Disconnected replies from the audience]: No/yes/kill them both/Down with Ian/Roland rules/Yamaha is the cat's pajamas/Korg/Ketron/Audyaaaaaa/Casio, etc
Fran: Roland
Ian: You heard them
Both: You heard them too
Ian: What else can I do?
Fran: Roland
TTG: Do as we asked
Diki: Do as they say [points to the audience]
Ian: They won't. But I maybe would if I could
Fran: Roland
[All exit left and right, looking frustrated]

Now go back to the first line and repeat ad nauseum

Is that supposed to be a forum?

You forgot the final line before exiting left:

trident: [after much hesitation decides to get involved and says in a huff] What's wrong with you people? Too much medication or too little?

Well..there's always the lonearrangers where the dinosaurs roam and connect with their postlessness.
I'm the only one having NADDA such issues with this label of:
"this forum has seriously degraded" foolish talk. I love synthzones opinions, style, demeanor, format & always will...like a wise man on these very forums said oh about yesterday now, 'there's always the back button' if ones panties are affixed to tighly to ones crotch area..it's all just a big 'made in china' corporation!people working themselves up thinking all these keyboards are their next of kin are really the ones to be astonished at.

Ahhhhh, poor Trident felt left out.

Welcome to the troupe Theodore...all that was missing was the Greek chorus...and, there's plenty of meds to go around.

I wonder which keyboard was used for the music in this play?
Was it an arranger,
Did it have 61 or 76 keys?
Were drums overpowering or were they live sounding drums?
Were the styles factory styles or were they user styles.

If they continue their written fights like this, there would probably be murders, not love scenes.

I was out of my mind, considering that the main protagonists collectively possess a huge amount of knowledge/experience/insight (as many other members of the forum), yet wasted thousands of keystrokes in useless fights.

No more useless keystrokes than the majority of them here...

The thing is, if you read this forum carefully, there are just SO MANY oblique references to wanting a 76 Yamaha, from many, many different members. Yes, sometimes they only refer to it the once, or just in passing, but if you read carefully, you'll find these players...

I just refuse to let them get ignored so dismissively by members here that, as they already HAVE Yamaha producing what they truly want, honestly have absolutely no stake in the issue whatsoever...

True.

A good example of wasted keystrokes is the 76 vs 61 debate...the minority group, wanting the former, constantly posting in great length, but very little depth.

The answer remains at but two keystrokes: NO.

No wasted keystrokes there.

I don't see the same vitriol poured out to those that might want better features in a Korg, or a Ketron, or even a Yamaha (mind you, almost ANY wanting found in a Yamaha product is usually shouted down), but this ONE need is apparently anathema to you all.

Oh, the humanity!

Strictly your opinion, and not indicative of the impressions held by the people who buy/use them.

The DGX and NP piano based arrangers are excellent instruments, and compete incredibly well in their intended market, in which their main, and probably only, competitor is Casio.

Putting down a product simply because it does not suit your needs, does not diminish it's value, for many people enjoy these instruments immensely...this is a very profitable market for both Yamaha and Casio.

And would be even MORE profitable, were they to make a DGX or YPG that had the latest OS, styles and sounds from the PSR line.

Here's a simple (even for you!) test you could do. Talk to a YPG or DGX owner. Play him (or her) something off your S910. Ask them if they'd like a DGX that sounded that good...

OF COURSE they are going to tell you 'No!'... They play a 76 specifically so that they can have an inferior product to a PSR, don't they..?

If it is profitable, then they'll probably do it.

Not until.

And in order to come to that conclusion, you have to assume that Yamaha does things that is right all the time.

That is the premise for your position. Could not Yamaha be missing satisfying a major part of the market or are they too perfect to do that.

As far as what Yamaha is missing, your best bet is to contact someone in Yamaha's marketing division, and ask them.

I'm thinking it's safe speculation right here on Synthzone.
Mr.Steve, it seems, is one of yamaha's visitors that frequents here,so carry on folks.

Yes, it would be a good idea to speculate here on SZ, but additional contacting of Yamaha's marketing division sure wouldn't hurt either.

I used to do that about 7yrs ago..yamaha kinda fickle like that(still got all my old emails to prove it too,all i wanted more custom voice banks from the paltry 32 offered. I was doing this at the begining when OS releasements were still ongoing)
I was told for about 10G,they may consider doing it personally for me!!whatta bargain!)

Anyone that thinks that contacting a corporation the size of Yamaha as a single writer is going to achieve anything is optimistic in the extreme... (but I did it anyway!)

Places like this are the only areas where a collective can voice their desires, and a collective is the only thing a corporation is interested in. Marginally...

The main thing is, I simply wish that those who have absolutely no stake in the discussion simply stay out of it. If Yamaha already meet YOUR needs, why try to shoot down someone asking for what THEY want? Spite? Sadism..? Bored....?

I hope Yamaha makes a 76 note PSR-S-Series very soon.

You're not getting any younger, and that old dinosaur G-70 isn't going to get any lighter.

Yamaha marketing people are probably checking in on SZ and getting a count of those who voiced the desire to buy one.

Ian
