Hi guys,

Do you know of any brass VSTs that would be as impressive as the internal brass sounds from a T2?

Thanks.

http://www.garritan.com/GPO-features.html http://www.garritan.com/jazz.html http://www.garritan.com/band.html http://www.eastwestsamples.com/details.php?cd_index=1011 http://www.eastwestsamples.com/details.php?cd_index=961 http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=kontakt3&ftu=bf9ee2929fd8f68 http://www.steinberg.net/155_1.html http://www.steinberg.net/667_1.html

I could go much longer, as well as adding the ones used in studios and on Blockbuster films, (No Tyros 2 used there) but just do a search on the web and you will find plenty more.
Also have a look at this trumpet http://www.soundfonts.it/?a=read&b=25

And then ask yourself, do they sound like the Real instruments or just Impressive. (Big Difference)
Hope this helps

Bill

Not so fast Bill!

I spent good money on some of those samples you mention. However they are practically impossible to use in live playing. I paid for the whole Quantum Brass set for example, and although they are amazing to listen to individual sounds, I've never used them live.

Hi Chony
I see where your coming from, having to carry a separate computer and all the set up to get it as you want, (Not forgetting quick access) does take some determination, however if you can load and play them pretty much as you would load a sound in a Tyros and play it, then the problem goes away. http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/017078.html

The question however, is there any VSTs that have a better sound then the Tyros 2, and as you said (Even though you don’t use them live) all the ones I mentioned do.
Regards

Bill

Generally samples come with preprogrammed presets that allow you to use them live, but they still are not usable. I went through many of the samples and learned Kontakt inside out, but didn't get much better results. I've never seen a preset that has the versatility and "brains" of the T2s brass, even though the sampling engines are all capable of it.

And yes, of course I agree that the sounds are better than the T2, because they are real!

If anyone ever comes across something usable, I'd be glad to buy it!

Hi Chony
Not Brass but Live VST use
http://downloads.wersi.co.at/video/sommerfest-helmuteder.mp4
http://downloads.wersi.co.at/video/sommerfest-helmuteder2.mp4

You will need the Apple QuickTime Player to view them as they are quite large

Hi again Chony
In addition to the above post, the most popular VST instruments that are loaded and played live by a lot of Wersi owners are

B4
FM8
Kontakt 2/3
Colossus
Real Guitar
Virtual Guitarist
EZ Drummer
Halion 3
The Grand 2
True Pianos

As you can see, playing live with VSTs is no problem if everything is integrated and designed to work together. (It just becomes another voice that can also be used in the styles if required)
So go on and give your VSTs another try. (You’ve paid for them so you may as well use them)
Hope this helps

Bill
