I'm playing two ancient MS-60's. Do they have batteries? The units are over 12 years old and used 5-10 times a week. Also, I use a 10 year old Hammond XB-2. Same question. My SH-201, GW-7, G-70 and Nord Electro are new. Same question. What about my used Midjay? Would hate to lose registrations/presets.

Thanks,

"Techno deprived" Russ

If an instrument has a internal memory..it has a internal battery....
It is not uncommon to last ten years..they always last at least 5 years..You should always save your programmed patches...at least once in a while...Store them on your computer , or a CD...

You never know when something will die on your board..battery or no battery..you may not be able to retrieve info..

I thought that if it lasted for more than 4 years, you might want to consult a doctor.

I think that was 4 HOURS Dan, and while it might have been a 'charge', I don't think it was a battery ...

I believe that the ms60 does have a battery. I also had a ms60 for over ten years and it always worked.

While some older keyboards have batteries to store basic, operating system information (similar to CMOS) this is no longer the case. Most keyboards did away with batteries about 10 years ago and opted to go with chips that store this information without requiring battery power. So, with luck, you may have a board that no longer relies on a CMOS battery. If not, one day it will die. The only way to find out is to check the schematic diagram of the kayboard, or call the manufacturer's customer service department.

Good Luck,

Gary
