I had auditioned the SP500 extensively when I got my Roland FP-5. I did like the sounds of the SP500 alot and found the action the to be OK too. However, I found that some of the elements of the SP500 styles could not be turned off. As example, the finger snap on the jazz swing was very bothersome. For my application, at the time, the FP-5 with the built-in speakers was a better choice to the superior display of the SP500. It was a tough choice but for me the FP-5 won out.
