Hi Andrea, ,

thank you for the fast response and thorough answer.
Mmmmmh; you gave me a lot of food for thought.
I don't know what I want more: appregiators or sounds.
I really like the sounds on the T2 and have almost everything I need: Guitars, Saxe's, Organs, Brass and Flutes, a decent Piano and E-piano.
What I do miss at times are some ethnic sounds and some really good choir samples.
The 9000 scat voices are just not cutting it.
On the other hand I agree that the T2 could have had some more multipads. Therefor some appregiators would be nice.
How is the ease of use with the Fantom vs. the ES?

I guess I have to listen to one of those babies

Ciao

Eric

Eric,
if you are looking for choirs the Fantom XR has some of the best vocal sounds I have ever heard. And, speaking of ethnic sounds, the card SRX 09 (World Collection) is dedicated entirely to ethnic instruments and rhytm sets.
What sets the Fantom XR really apart from other modules is the ability to install eight expansion cards, which are much better compared with the PLG cards available for the Motif (and also for the 9000 pro). Plus, in the Motif ES rack you can install only two of them...

You can find audio/video demo's of the SRX cards here:

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Claudiu
Claudia is the name of my wife

Hi Andrea,

I'm at work right now, but I will check it out tomorrow.
I was hoping that there was a demo video floating out there.

Last question: how about ease of use and set up of the Fantom verses the Motif ES?

Thanks again

Eric

Claudiu, thanks! Nice to see you there as well.

Eric, I would say that the Fantom in general is easier to program compared with the Motif ES; moreover, the Fantom XR has a sampler, which is lacking in the Motif ES rack, so in theory you could load your own sounds in it.
On the Roland US website ( www.rolandus.com ) you can find demo's of almost everything, including videos.

Hi Andrea,

thanks for the link.
The expansion boards on the Fantom are really great.
I'm still in the process of setting up my T2, so it'll be a while before I jump to something new... but the Fantom looks great so far.

Thanks again for all your time.

Ciao

Eric

Just checked out the Fantom 76 note and the MO 88 key and yippeee, bye bye SD1 hello MO 88.
Fantom was very nice but the MO is far cheaper and still sounded amazing. Also I've been wanting 88 weighted keys for ages and the piano sounds/feel of the keys were great, even better than those on the Fantom which were very good.
The MO's screen is no where near as good to look at, but I'd rather link it to my PC and do the sound editing that way.
I think it also only weighs in the low 40 lbs so great for 88 notes, nice and light.
I'll let you peeps know what I think about soon.
