Is anyone now using the SRM 450 speakers? Has anyone one here had problems with them over heating and shutting down like others have said here before? Does it only happen when they are laid on the side?

I'd like to get to a one unit hookup to my keyboard. I have enough trouble keeping up with sequencing for my sax and carrying all the gear around with my sax and the frustrating continous effort it takes to find a reed I can live with for the night. Sometimes a few reeds for the night.

Anyone use the Samson EX30?
Thanks for the help again,
Boo

Boo: Got your email saying you're looking for a relatively lightweight PA setup. As I mentioned severals times before, I previously had purchased the SRM450's and gave up on them after just a few gigs and a sore back. Not so much for the weight itself, but because they are not very balanced ergonomically. The weight distribution & slippery shell made it very awkward to haul around and up stairs. Granted, the SRM450's sound terrific and never overheated on me, but really don't sound THAT MUCH better than the EV SxA100's. at least not worth the difference in the transport hassle and price that the SRM450s gave me. The EVs are lighter, but more importantly, ergonomically much better shaped and balanced for easy tranport via it's built in carrying handles. If frequent gigs and quick in/out easy setup is important, go with the EVs. The SRM450's offer more bottom end, but for the type of music you and I do (jazz & classic standards), the EVs are actually better suited imho. I typically only need to take (for the smaller gigs) the PSR2000 keyboard (24 lbs), kb & mic stand, gig bag (cables, pedals, etc) and one EV speaker and folding aluminum speaker tripod. Setup time (including transporting from the car) is usually under 12 minutes. The EVs even have separate hi/lo eq knobs, but NO built in reverb. But hey, the SRM450 doesn't include either. I checked out the Samson PA but I still prefer the EV SxA100. Just my opinion of course. - Scott
