I wouldn't be surpirsed if the cdwriter comes as a choosable option to have it in or not!, when the keyboard hits the market.
Probably it is an scsi writer, imagine what else could be in that docking place

By the way DID SOMEONE TAKE A PICTURE????
IF SO WHERE IS IT?

Hi Freddy

Scott Yee has a good picture of the GEM Genesys. It looks like a very ergonomic layout.

I give USB, whatever flavor, about zero chance of overtaking firewire in the video arena. Its up to Sony (for all practical purposes) and Sony seems committed to firewire (ilink). In the digital still arena, USB seems to dominate. In the music arena, USB seems to have the lead, but Yamaha has adopted firewire for its mLan specification. While I think USB will dominate, I do not see firewire disappearing (so to speak).

If there are any keyboard manufacturers listening, I vote for flash memory and USB flash memory cards over a CDRW for the above reasons. Forget the floppy drive too.

For me the addition of a CDR into a keyboard means just another piece of mechanical kit that probably won't last for the life of the keyboard & when it breaks down it will create all kinds of problems.
I would far rather see the money spent on what for me is the most paramount importance the quality of the voice samples so my most simple requirement would be an easy & reliable two way connection from keyboard to PC so that if I need to record I can get the best quality sound production to either minidisk or pc & talking of the minidisk
I was always under the impression that the Sony marketing strategy was to make it the world leader as the main music storage medium

I noticed a parallel thread at Triton Central. One poster noted that most Triton buyers were hobbyists would be impressed with the CDR and prefer over using a computer-based hard-disk recording system.

I like the way Revox 6 replied

And who can blame those hobbyists. The marriage between keyboards and computers is shotgun at best and when you think about it a workstation synth should have everything in one box, otherwise it isn't a workstation.

Flash cards would be more than adequate for me.

If it all has to be in one box, then they might as well give me a Windows OS on the board too and let me add my own software ( yeah how stable would THAT be in a live performance..lol ? ) That might sound tounge in cheek, but seriously, I can see it coming ( doesn't Wersi already have or have something like this planned ? )

It would have to be mouse controlled too.. I don't want to access everything with a keypad or edit my sequences using an event list ( I want a piano roll ).

Bluezplayer,

There is one music company that manufacture such "electronic organs" based on MS windows.

check out this:
http://www.wersi.uk.com/
http://www.wersi.uk.com/abacus.htm

They even included cubase/vst IN THE KEYBOARD!!!

The point about CDR is, you do not need windows to include it in a keyboard.

Well, Bill Gates makes enough trouble with
the Windows OS at the PC, so if he are
going to control my arr. keyboard too,
when should I play rather than reinstall
or fix the OS all the time ??

Hi Cliff,
found your topic at Triton Central, thanks for pointing it out.
http://www.tapesh.com/tritonubb/Forum1/HTML/002436.html

Whoever Arranger is, he is an intellectual THIEF.

he seems to have copied and pasted my entire post into this other forum, with minimal editing, and put his name to it.

Obviously there are readers here with no ethics whatsoever.

If anyone here is on the Triton forum perhaps they could be so kind as to point this out.
