Hi all,
I do not know what to do about this......
A midi file with lyrics played in van basco's player shows lyrics just fine but....when the same file is loaded and played on my psr2100 no lyrics appear.
Anyone have an answer for me?
Any help is much appreciated.
Jim

No Yamaha experience here, but have you tried re-saving the file from the app the lyrics DID work in? And possibly look for preferences at save time to see if alternate lyric formats can get saved? (Type 0/1 etc.)

Might work.......

Thank you Diki,
The file is in format 0 already. It should be ok with the psr?

And thank you Donny for your advice and info..

Fran??? Are you there??
I hope you or someone has come across this before and knows just what I should do.

I don't work with lyrics too often, but I seem to remember some SMF players that require a ".kar " extention instead of ".mid "
Might be worth a try to change the offending file name and see what happens!

Maybe the Yamaha doesn't read the .kar - Van Basco does.

Dave hit the nail on the head! Change the file extension to .mid and the lyrics will appear on both Vanbasco and the PSR-2100.

Hey OldNewb,

Something else to consider...Kar files display lyrics using a "text event" while true midi files display lyrics using a "lyric event". Many keyboards need to see the lyric event to display lyrics. Vanbasco can display either, lyric or text events.

I use GNMidi to convert my .kar files to .mid files which will change the text events to lyric events.

UD, and Gary,
I already had checked the file extension and it already is .mid

I have contacted Fran, sent him the file, and he is going to try to get it to read using gnmidi.

I'll let you guys know what we find out.

Thank you for your time. I appreciate it greatly.

I was able, with Michael Bedesam's help, to adjudt the particular midi file using midiplayer II.
Thank you all for your input and time.
