Hello all,

I am strongly thinking of buying an accordian. I need one that is not big but not small. Sounds good with good features. Very reliable and durable... but for good price.

I barely know anything about accordians so I appreciate any help or recommendation about it.

Thanks

My introduction to music as a child was the accordion . I went through several brands and sizes until settling on a 96 bass Hohner. It sits next to my piano and sounds as good as it did 30 years ago when my parents bought it for me. sk880user -if you need more specific info let me know.

Thanks. So do you recommend hohner? What features should I be looking for when buying an accordian? How much should I spend?

Accordeons:

Beautiful machines. It depends on how much you would like to spend. They are VERY expensive, but there is a simple reason for it. It is an investment. You buy ONE for the rest of your life (most of the times) so it LOOKS as if it is expensive. But most of the times it is two times the price of a keyboard, that is old after let's say 5 years!

There are too many elements important (sound chamber, 120 or 96 bass) what you play etc. but I will give you a list now of what are the best accordeons in my opinion:

In order of being best for me:
-Dallape
-Guerrini
-Bugarri Armando
-Hohner
-Weltmeister
-Serennelini

But it is very individualy tasted this list. For others, maybe Moreschi could be the best.
But I do think that Dallape is lonely at the top along with Guerrini and then the others in whatever position you like.

Hope this helps.

Ilija,

Thanks. To be honest with you, I am looking for a cheap one. Something like $200. Can you buy an accordian for this price?

if your budget is so restricted then the only option would be "stardella" which is made in china. the next in line is a Chic made but is almost double the price. I play Hohnica 80 base (made by hohner)and it was £400 ($600) but it is a different league.

haha you mix THIS up with $200 ? Really funny indeed.

No you cannot have this, but you can come close. The best thing for that money is too just check out the sound. Does it feel ok? Try every note (also very important try ALL bass notes). If it works, you have a good machine. Try to listen to the air whithout playing a note. If it vibrates, then it is not good.

You will not find any of the above brands for that money. Especially a 15-year-old Guerrini could easily cost USD $ 2500,- .

Hope you find something.

A NEW Guerrini President Oro II is USD $ 10.000 ...

GOod luck.

There are of course Accordeons for $ 200.
But they are old and used. But that should be no problem.
