Nice to see Roland bringing back the series that made them famous...the E series. I hope this series is going to be better than the em exr va etc. I hope their new flagship the e80 sounds fantastic with none of the g70s sound problems. I wonder how many mb of sound the e80 has. I have played the tyros 2 and think its fantastic. Lets hope the e80 can stand up against tyros2.

It's primarily an expanded G70, more effects, a few more drumkits and two SRX slots, but basically, if you didn't like the G70 (your loss, as far as I'm concerned!) this is probably not going to change your mind............

Yes, but the E-80 sounds good "out of the box", the G-70 donīt.

All this subjective talk about a keyboard that NO-ONE has seen in the flesh and/or personally played yet....

June we will know.

If you donīt know, the E-80 was published at the Frankfurt Music Messe, and a lot of people have played or heard it. So this is not subjective talk.

I think its not fair to think that those unhappy with the g70 should not consider the new e80. Remember this is NOT to the G70 as the EM2000 was to the G70. This 61 key keyboard will be more expensive than the 76 key G70. And theres quiet a bit of new stuff. Will it sound better than the g70 out of the box? I think so. And theyve put in new sounds and drum kits. I think a small drawback is that this is the heaviest roland arranger. But heavy weights deliver a knockout punch

I think the E80 is exactly the same ...as the EM2000 was to the G1000, and the VA7 was to the VA76...
How do you figure it to be a different situation?
Naturally one model can be refined...If you can recall the VA7 version 2 was improved first over the VA76.....before the VA76 was upgraded..
The G70 can also be upgraded to the specs of the E80[software]..

I am sorry, but this is not correct! Most improvements in the E80 are hardware specific (redesign of the panel, 2 x SRX slots, Built-in speakers, additional DSP's etc.). Even the new sounds will never be upgradable - you would need the E80 chip to have the new E80 sounds, so this is unfortunately not an option for the G70 users!... Therefore, "it is NOT possible to upgrade the G-70 to gain these improvements!" Only a few minor improvements like import of .bmp files are potential upgrade candidates. But let's face it: it is highly unlikely that Roland will ever release a G70 V3. The G70 is considered a finished product and Roland will of course spend their R&D money elsewhere - hopefully on the next generation of arranger machines for the benefit of us all

In addition to what I wrote above, this statement is not correct either - sorry

BTW - in this forum board you find a lot of great input from users, who recommend new functionality for the next generation of Roland arrangers. If you have any additional input, please come forward with it! All input will automatically be forwarded to Roland's R&D dep.

yours sincerely
