Hi Oliver,

Thanks very much for the information. You were very kind in observe it.

I know the PSR 730 and PSR 740 as I have owned both and I was myself that made the upgrade in those model. At PSR 730 there was no sockets for the two DIL socket chips (H and L). I bought the sockets and
I have soldered them first. In the PSR 740 the two chips already came from factory
with the sockets; in this model it was very easy to make the update.

Now in the 2000 according with your information, the two chips are SMD technology.
Very (at least) dificult for me as I have no special desoldering iron for them.

But this gives me an idea that I guess it's necessary to explore:

Yamaha knows that all new keyboards have bugs. So I guess that they knew, early or later It would appear in the Yamaha technical support shops lot of keyboards to upgrade. Using SMD it's an expensive job for Yamaha during warranty.
So, I guess, PSR 2000 OS is parcially in Flash ROM and other part it's in SMD EPROM. Yamaha didn't foresee to change the SMD part.
However appeared a bug that result on a need to change also the SMD EPROM part.
That's the surprise, also to Yamaha.

So, may be after to correct this unexpected SMD part, in future, updates will be only in the Flash ROM part and so downloadable from PK Club.

What do you think about this thought ? It could be isn't it ?

Is there somebody from Yamaha that can clarify this ? We all hope to hear an explanation.

Hi

At the Yamaha site of USA, until yesterday, there was the
information that PSR 2000 OS was Flash ROM upgradeable.
Today that information it's not there anymore.
http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/DsplyModel/?gPPK00005PSR2000

I guess it is the confirmation that indeed the OS is only on EPROM.
