Please tell me how to select the "screaming" sound on the roland va-76 - i'm presing on the 4 maps available over and over and nothing changes - everything sounds the same even if i press map1 - map2 - map3 - and map 4 - nothing changes..do i have to press anything else after i press the tone map ? how do i select the screaming or laughing or car engine sounds ?? it's not on the "group" buttons ( 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) it's not there...where are they ?! I am really hurt. Please help me...I might return my va-76 = I even read the book - on the " selecting different tone maps" at page 41 - and I DON'T GET IT - I CAN'T FIND THE SOUNDS. If i won't find the sounds in like ..42 hours i'll return it....thanks...best wishes ! I am starting to hate this thing.

after i press the different maps - ( 1,2,3,4) just the sound changes - for example - if i'm using the normal piano - i press map 3 - it just sounds a little bit different - if i press map 2, sounds little bit different, if i press map 1, sounds a lil` bit different - BUT WHERE ARE THE LAUGHING - SCREAMING - DOG - BIRD - GUN -EURO HIT - IMPACT HIT -JUNO STRINGS - VOICE FEM/MASC - WATER BELL - ERUPTION - EXPLOSION and all that ???????????????????????????? ASSISTANCE PLEASE - i'm desperate - i'm gonna pay you and i'm gonna pray for you if you're answering me.

Hi Claudio,
I can't tell you how to do it, but you won't access it by tone map.
Do you know how to change the sounds ie
a11 is piano1
a12 is piano2
a37 is guitar
etc
then you get on to the b's
b11 is soprano sax
b87 is applause
there is a way to step thru all the different variations on b87 which will give you laughing , screaming etc unfortunately without a manual , I can't remember how to do it.

I think you may be wrong, the group buttons may have something to do with it.
best wishes

In the top-left side of the Tone Select window there are two icons: "A" and "B".
Pressing "B" the second half of VA-76 tone world will open to you.
Then push the "8" icon on the top-right side of the screen and you will get a list of 8 sound effects.
If you want to get more, press "Variation" in the low-mid part of the screen after choosing one of the 8 SFX.
You can find the "screaming" as 2nd variation of "Applause".
I hope that you can finally find your way and understand how to select tones on VA-76; it is not complicated...

The one sound i missed on my va5 when i bought my tyros was an sfx sound called "small club" which the g1000 had as well. Its the most realistic audience applause sound i have ever heard. When you hold the key down the audience scream the word "YAY" and then they start whistling. Its there in your va76. Yes you are right when you say when you play the same instrument in map 1 and map 2 or map 2 and map 3 there is hardly a difference. Infact in alot of the sounds it sounds exactly the same in map 2 and map 3 . Roland lied to the public. The va series does NOT have 3500 different sounding sounds. The va5 touch screen to this day still gives me nightmares. go get a tyros2 its got better sounds better styles and easier to use ...but i would miss that small club sound i mentioned...but unfortunately its hard to play songs using only the small club sound

It's not just those sounds - there are many other ones - and it's not that i need them - but i have the arranger, so i should know about them - it's not just the screaming and all that crap but there are many other guitar effects, the velocity thing ..i press harder on the key it sounds nicer and all that stuff - the keyboard came with 3700 sounds, i want to see 3700 sounds not just the basics ones -

Have you sat down and read the owner's manual?
I can't imagine that it wouldn't show you how to access the sounds.
If it doesn't, the next step would be to call Roland, if no one here can help. I haven't even seen one, so I can't help.

Hi Claudiu,

try also posting your question on the Roland arranger forum: http://www.synthzone.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=38&SUBMIT=Go

Maybe more people with a VA76 can answer.
BTW you said you were from Europe?
Which country are you from?
Just curious.

Good luck with finding those sounds.

Eric

Hi Claudiu,

my parents once vacationed there and loved it.
There is some beautiful music in Romania too.

You really should check out Batlord then Their "Music To Be Buried To" really fits the subject of this thread especially their song Undertaker. Very dark but very cool at the same time. I do really like this band.

Hi Nigel,

thanks for posting the song.
Nice tight rythm. Reminds me of a German band in the 80's.

Funny you should say that Eric. They haven't got a big following here even though they are based in LA/Ventura County but they already have a fan base in Germany. Scorpio Batlord the lead singer and guitarist has just recently returned home from a PR trip to Germany.

Hey Nigel,

just went to the webite and watched the movie of that song.
First I thought I'll post the link, but then my concience kicked in and said no, it probably would freak out a few people here...... oops...

See what you started...?

Aaaaah yes the German's

I seem to remember them...

Anyway it doesn't suprise me a bit that they would be popular in Germany and maybe even in England but not here.

Kerry my wife thinks I am a little mad loving Batlord like I do
But I do like rock music to be edgey and provocative. I grew up listening to Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention so Batlord is not really too much of a stretch for me.

I liked them so much I bought the CD "Music To Be Buried To". It has a wonderful track on it I like called ...
Just Because I Wish You Were Dead ( Doesn't mean I don't love you ). The flavor of the album is 60s retro Goth Horror. Sort of The Monkees meet Marilyn Manson. Very tongue in cheek and are GREAT songs performed VERY well. And some nice VOX Continental organ parts help establish that retro sound.

I first ran into Scorpio Batlord when he was playing his regular gig as lead guitarist and backup vocal in Boogie Knights a local disco revival cover band. He looked quite a bit different with his Afro wig on than he is with his shaved head and wearing a bone necklace in Batlord. A great guitar player and he played all the keyboard parts on "Music To Be Buried To".
