I have been reading posts on another forum relative to a CD for sale containing several of the "Real Book" jazz fake books in PDF format. Do any of you know anything about this CD? Is it legal? Is it worth the money? Is it of any practical benefit without being printed to "hard copy?"
It is for sale at http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=1097536
Thanks,
DVJ

I suspect this is highly illegal since many authentic fakebooks cost more than $30 each, and this is certainly a homemade CD with a cheap inkjet label. $30 would never cover the publishing royalties for that much music. I would follow the eBay rule of logic: if it looks like a rip-off, feels like a rip-off, smells like a rip-off... it's probably a rip-off.

You're better off with a hard copy book. All the lyrics, chords and sheet music right in front of you on your keyboard. You're gonna print all of those tunes out from the CD? WOW!!!

Hi,
I have 5 of the SHER Publishing Co. "NEW REAL BOOKS". They are legal and very good for jazz oriented players. Also, I have 10 other fake books (publishers include Hal Leonard, CCP/Belwin, Charles Hansen Dist., and Columbia). The printed books with spiral bindings are indeed very usable.
Thanks,
DVJ
