I found some software to edit sounds from my computer on my microkorg, what cable do I need to connect the two? I see MIDI cables at radioshack online but nothing from computer to MIDI, is it something I can get at a local store (id rather not order online)? my laptop has USB ports and a small connector with 15 holes(the ones you screw in on both sides)... thanks

BC,

Here's the cable you'll need:

You'll find it at ZZounds

Good Luck,

Gary

wow, wasnt expecting that much...any cheaper way to do it?
is it really worth it for my microKORG, are there alot of new sounds i can get? i was reading that if you download something for the MS2000 since it has the same engine or something, you can use those sounds..know anything about this?

The MicroKorg has the same engine under the hood as the MS2000. Visit the American Korg site (www.korg.com) and you'll find a free PC editor that works with a MIDI cable. Then visit the German Korg site and you'll find a full set of patches from the MS2000 that you can load and play in the MicroKorg! Suddenly this thing goes WAY beyond electronic/techno/rap/retro/etc.!

I got the PC editor, but when I went to the german korg site i couldnt locate those patches because i cant read the german...

I just want to be sure I can get alot of new sounds before I spend $50 on the cable..

anyone have any ideas about this?

are there other sounds from other keyboards that will work with it, or just the MS2000?

BC,

Most keyboard sounds are unique to the individual brand of board. And, some earlier model sounds (voices) often cannot be used with newer models. More often than, you are limited to the sounds within the keyboard, and some variations of those sounds that have been modified by others owning the same board. As for the price of the addapter cable, you may want to do a Google search for the cable. It's possible you may find it a bit cheaper on another site. I paid $40 for mine in a music store. Keep in mind the adapter is universal and can be used with any keyboard that has midi capabilities.

Good Luck,

Gary
