Just finished a blues song, co-written with a Nashville friend, my first attempt at blues, and all performed on the PSR2000.

If you care to listen, it is at:
http://artists2.iuma.com/site-bin/streammp3.m3u?187922 (hi-fi), or
http://artists2.iuma.com/mugly-bin/ramgen.ram?aid=58505&sid=187922 (RealPlayer)

Here are the words:

Blues Plate Special
©2001 C. Bernard / C. Wong

My woman done left; she took all the pots and pans.
My woman done left; took all the pots and pans.
Why she want 'em all; she only got two darn hands.

I'm sittin' in the cafe; eatin' supper all alone.
Sittin' in the cafe; eatin' supper all alone.
Might stay here all night, no reason to go back home.

It's the Blues Plate Special; they named it after me.
It's the Blues Plate Special; named it after me.
Come get your Blues Plate Special and a cup of misery.

Salad's got worms. The bread's got mold.
Mashed potatoes like soup and the soup is cold.
Steak's full of gristle. The chicken is raw.
Gravy's got lumps. Cole slaw's got straw.

It's the Blues Plate Special, they named it after me.
It's the Blues Plate Special; named it after me.
Get your Blues Plate Special and a cup of misery.

Pork chop's all bone. Boiled eggs are green.
Dropped it on the floor and the floor ain't clean.
The butter is rancid. The milk is sour.
The rice is movin' and there's bugs in the flour.

It's the Blues Plate Special, they named it after me.
It's the Blues Plate Special, named it after me.
Come get your Blues Plate Special and a cup of misery.
Get your Blues Plate Special and a cup of misery.

Thanks for listening!

Hi Charlie,
who do you think you are? Muddy Waters?
Congratulations for your song: which harmonizer setting/effect did you use to sound like Louis Armstrong singing the blues?

Don, Bob, Kmac, Denny,

Thanks for the kind words, I'm sure my co-writer will be honored to read them.

Hey Andrea,

I did not use any voice settings, nor even the vocalizer. After laying down the backing and Growl Sax lines, I just sang into a cheap $45 Kenwood mic straight onto a Boss BR-8 (digital 8-track recorder) with clothespins judiciously applied to certain strategic - ahem - body parts...

Muddy Waters. Nahhh.
Louis Armstrong. Uh-uh.
Dr. John, hmmmmm, maybe.

Yamaha makes clothespins?

Nice job, Charlie

Hey Charlie,
THANKS for sharing. Fun! Did you perform this on your 'new' Yamaha PSR2000? Perhaps you can share with us 'how' you produced it: accomp style used, arranger playing mode (fingered, multi finger, etc), Memory Registration/OTS), sax patch used. - Scott

Thanks Bsharp.

Hi Scott, yes, I did use the 2000. I used the 6/8 blues style, the standard fingering mode (whatever it is set to when you turn on the kb), and the standard Growl Sax voice. No special settings, registration or DSP, of any kind. It's impressive how good the factory settings sound, especially when piped through an outside recorder.

I just use my kbs to write songs and make demos, don't know my around them in too much detail...like I said, I'm waiting for your book!
