This is surely an FAQ but I didn't find it, so here goes:

I have troubles formatting disks on my PC (using new 2DD BASF disks, should work excellent) using the 'F' option in EPSDISK:

C)opy / F)ormat / disk T)ype / S)ector edit / V)erify / D)irectory /
eX)tract, W)rite file / change P)arameters / Q)uit ? F
Enter volume spec ( exits): a:

Error (2) opening new volume a:.

C)opy / F)ormat / disk T)ype / S)ector edit / V)erify / D)irectory /
eX)tract, W)rite file / change P)arameters / Q)uit ?

Have you ever experienced this? I have tried to format the disks as normal 720 KB DOS disks in Windows Explorer (I use Windows 2000) first but there was no difference in EPSDISK. Help would be much appreciated.

- Janne, who has just bought a used EPS 16+

Are you trying to run EPSDISK on Windows 2000? If so, that is your problem...

EPSDISK makes direct BIOS calls to perform its operations. Windows 2000 (and NT for that matter) prohibits direct calls to the hardware, so EPSDISK will not work in these environments.

EPSDISK and EDM will work under DOS, Win3.x, Win9X, and WinME, but not NT and 2K...
