Hello,
www.roland.it page has EM55 arranger listed under new products.
Does anybody know anything about this model?
It looks that it has an Oriental drum kit which can be quite interesting.
Can this be a competitor to PSR1000 since the price range is the same ?
Synthplanet sells it for $704 US.
They have listed its specs but it is on Duch (I think ...)

Thanks !

Orient,
This one is quite an improvment over the lower EM models.. I translated the specs and they are pretty impressive. What I do like is that it has a 16 track sequencer, and a style orchestrator with style morphing. Another plus on the EM55 is a joystick for pitchbend and modulation...(even the PSR-1000 doesn't have modulation) I personally think a joystick is better than the wheels because you get much more control and can achieve a higher level or realism with guitar sounds.. I say this because I also play guitar and the stick works great for bending and a whammy effect. I would say this is pretty comparable to the PSR-1000. The big question though is SOUND QUALITY.. I'm not sure if I'm reading the specs right but I think it translated into well over 1000 sounds on the board.. If this it true then it would be nice to know how many mb's are dedicated to the sounds. We won't know much on this one until someone actually gets their hands on it...

Smart move Roland!
I think that is what it have.
-61 keys touch sensitive.
-64 polyphonic.
-3641 sounds and 116 drums kit.
-16 track Seq. and a floppy drive.
-128 styles.
-style morphing and some other EZ function.

A non touch screen Version of the Va-3 but Va-3 offers more I think.
it would be more smart if Roland would make "Em-55 OR".it would replace the Em-50OR and the E-500OR too. but that's a wish and I don't think they will do that .

WOW! over 3000 sounds..... Now I really want to know how many mb's are dedicated to them.. Seems like this is a watered down version of the VA-3. I hope they didn't cut a lot of corners and reduce sound quality....Does anyone know when this thing will be released by Roland US?

Mmmm...It looks nice too !
Is there anybody from Europe who can check this beauty ?
Probably it can be seen in european stores already.
Maybe he/she could give us some info before it arrives in US.
If I read correctly from SynthPlanet is has an oriental drum kit so
it could be used for playing old roland's oriental styles, ... I guess ?
