I think about replacing my x1 by a 9000 or 9ooo pro-or maybe just have it as an additional keyboard.I have onely played once a psr9000-never on 9000pro.What do you think about the differences between x1 and the two yamaha keyboards(especially concerning sax sounds)?

Hello Hans,

The two KB are quite different from your X1.
Starting with the styles, they are much simpler than the X1. I personally like it that way, since they fit a wide genere of music that way. Most of us 9000 owneres had to tweak the styles and the sounds a bit.
The X1 is more in your face, the 9000 is mellower. Sombody onces compared the sound this way: The X1 sounds like a life band, the 9000 sounds like a studio band.
Concerening the Saxes, some are better in the X1 some are better in the 9000. The same with the other sounds.
Of course it all comes down to taste.
Here is my recomandation: keep the X1 and get the 9000Pro (which I own) if you can.
The 9000Pro has much better key action, is a little lighter than the Psr-9000 and has 48MB of sound vs 36MB of sound in the Psr-9000. The grand piano is much better in the Pro.
As I said the styles are not very exciting at first, but very useful. Most of us have the Psr-2000 and CVP209 Styles, which load easily into the Pro. Some of them are quite a bit better than the 9000 styles. I'll be happy to share them with you, if you decide for he Pro.

Hope this Helps.
Let me know if you have more Quetions.
Oh yes Don't forget to listen to the 9000 first.

If you go under search, there are numerous posts on the comparison of the two.

Good luck

Eric

I can't speak about the 9000pro but I did try a psr9000 for a month and I do have an x1. I sent the 9000 back and am still using and loving the x1. The 9000 left me flat in most areas. I felt after a side by side comparison that the brass and woodwinds on the x1 were much better than the Yamaha. I felt the 9000 had better guitars and great vocal processing. The 9000 has multipads the x1 not. The Yamaha has a slightly better piano. Organs are about the same on both.

The 9000 is a beast to handle.

There are many styles on the x1 that are not in your face. The ballads are an example. Comparing Yamaha ballads to the x1's the x1's are more alive not in your face. The bossa's cha cha s and other latins on the x1 are in your face but wonderful. The x1 does not have a standard Rumba. I don't understand this at all. Thankfully there are people like Fran Carango and others who share other manufactures converted styles with us.

In the end there wasn't a good enough reason for me to change from the x1 to the 9000. Uncle Dave did change, so did Don Mason, (I bought my x1 from him) so did DNJ (Donny). They all had x1s and dumped them for Yamahas.
Don has no regrets selling me his and I have no regrets buying it. Different strokes for different folks. Make sure you try one first before you decide not just an hour in the store but at least a few days.

Good luck,

Tom

If the fill-in and variation buttons on the X1 were on the left side, instead of the right, I would probably not have traded so quickly. It's the only keyboard I've ever seen with those buttons on the "wrong" side (at least for me).
