Amen to what Don said (except for the last sentence ). Some songs are "timeless" BECAUSE OF the 'words and melody line'. That means you probably shouldn't mess with 'em too much. THIS is one of those songs. I don't want to hear even a JAZZ interpretation of Ave Maria, just an incredible lyric soprano over a simple accompaniment. Again, this is just MY opinion.
