I don't agree to the laptop and camera items. If I had to work with Word, Excel or Powerpoint documents on a tablet instead of my notebook all the time it would be wearisome and limited. Or using photoshop etc. Do the authors think most people only do some internet surfing and use some shallow apps that don't require much processor capacity?
Regarding the digital camera, I have two non-reflex cameras, one very compact Sony and one premium compact Canon G15 with a very fast lens, both are way, way better than any smartphone camera with their small lenses.
I think they are just describing the consumer trends, but it isn't worth anything as an advice what's really useful or not.
Happy New Year to all
