I too understand the concept of the Midjay and I didn't expect it to have 100% of XD3 functions and I knew I would have to make compromises on the buttons. What I don't like is the fact that registrations can't be saved properly critical for live giging. I can't see myself bringing XD3 and Midjay to gig. The purpose was to leave XD3 home. As a player the unit is promoted as having 16 markers / jump function. I use this feature a lot on my Roland MC80 for spontaneous playback of midi sequences (jumping to verse, chorus, ending in real time). I was told this machine could do this and but now I have to wait 2 months or so because software is not ready. As you see Midjay could eliminate from my setup XD3, MC80, IPod but can't do it yet in it's present state. There are a lot of other awesome features and the unit sounds great. I guess I'm bummed that I should have waited till bugs have been ironed out and that I know this machine can do many more things but we don't have a full instructions manual yet. Thats the price of living in paradise (Hawaii). No way to try music gear before purchasing. The Midjay has great potential and I hope things will be fixed soon. Aloha from Hawaii !!!
