Why not use the computer you just used to post?

I use my desktop in the studio, and my laptop in the field[gig etc].

I also have/use mini disk recorders[Sony and Sharp]

I have tried to use the 4 and 8 track hardware recorders, but to much bulk and hook up..The laptop remains the best for me..
