Hi. I can recommend korg i3 which I have used live for over 3 years. I can't remember if I got a reply posted to you before, if so, my apologies for repeating the message.
The i3 is cheap enough to pick up second-hand these days, and has a few programmable features for making your own noises as well as a fine set of on-board sounds. There is no doubt that the newer korg i30 is even better and even more flexible with new technology on board, but obviously is more expensive, probably around $1500 in USA. Try to get one with a built-in hard drive if you go this route. It makes a fantastic difference for live, studio and songwriting duties. Hope this helps. It has worked for me at least. Best wishes.
