My husband has an Ensoniq TS-12 workstation which mysteriously died a couple of years ago. He started noticing strange things happening with the machine, such as the LCD panel showing random characters and flickering or fading, and once the machine wouldn't turn off no matter what he did until finally he had to just unplug it. He was still able to use it after that, until one day it just wouldn't turn on except for a faint glow in the corners of the LCD screen.

Now, a couple years later, he purchased a replacement battery hoping that would solve the problem. He removed the old battery and replaced it with the new one, but no change. And, interestingly enough, when he tried turning it on without ANY battery in it, he got the exact same reaction (just that light glow in the corners of the screen).

Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Does something need to be replaced and, if so, is it something we can do ourselves or take to someone to have done? We would really like to save his TS-12 if at all possible...

If this helps, the electricity in the house we were living in at the time was unreliable, and there were frequent power surges and outages. We believe that may have negatively affected the machine.

Any help anyone could give would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.
