here are a few things to consider . if you are buying a keyboard to use as a controller , you will need pitch bend and modulation . Guitar Center's just started stocking the Alesis QS8.1 for $999.99 .
Another keyboard on the horizon will be the
Yamaha S08 for around $1199.99 (april) .

If you walk into a store , the 1st thing I would look for is pitch bend and mod wheel !

Fatar SL990 or SL1100 are other controllers ( no sounds) . SL990 at my store is $399.99 for a floor model ( no pitch bend ) .
